There is a pittance of oil off-shore...it hardly an appetizer for the appetite of our military-industrial complex. There is no point in drilling for it today; it is extremely expensive, and merely distracts from the real issue of utilizing sustainable energy. We should really be shoring up our use of oil as much as possible today. Oil is used in such a wide variety of applicatons that it will be difficult to completely eliminate its use at ANY point in the future. We need to step up renewable energy to substitue for mainstream use of oil, and eventually, it will take on more and more of the uses of oil as it becomes more developed. We need to save any such tiny stores for the future, when we'll have better, less intrusive technology for extracting it, and when it costs $100 a gallon! Watch out, it's happening!
